چکیده

Commercially pure titanium (CP Ti) has been widely applied to fabricate cast devices because of its favorable properties. However, the mold temperature recommended for the manufacture of casts has been considered relatively low, causing inadequate castability and poor marginal fit of cast crowns. This study evaluated and compared the influence of mold temperature (430 degrees C--as control, 550 degrees C, 670 degrees C) on the marginal discrepancies of cast CP Ti crowns. Eight bovine teeth were prepared on a mechanical grinding device and impressions were used to duplicate each tooth and produce eight master dies. Twenty-four crowns were fabricated using CP Ti in three different groups of mold temperature (n = 8): 430 degrees C (as control), 550 degrees C and 670 degrees C. The gap between the crown and the bovine tooth was measured at 50 X magnification with a traveling microscope. The marginal fit values of the cast CP Ti crowns were submitted to the Kruskal-Wallis test (p = 0.03). The 550 degrees C group (95.0 microm) showed significantly better marginal fit than the crowns of the 430 degrees C group (203.4 microm) and 670 degrees C group (213.8 microm). Better marginal fit for cast CP Ti crowns was observed with the mold temperature of 550 degrees C, differing from the 430 degrees C recommended by the manufacturer.

Internal Adaptation of Cast Titanium Crowns

As the adaptation of titanium crowns obtained by Rematitan Plus investment, specific for titanium, is not recognized to be suitable, this study evaluated the effect of the concentration of the specific liquid and the temperature of the mold of investments on the internal misfit of crowns cast on commercially pure titanium. Individual dies of epoxy resin were obtained, representing teeth prepare...

Marginal and internal adaptation of commercially pure titanium and titanium-aluminum-vanadium alloy cast restorations.

AIM The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the marginal accuracy and internal fit of complete cast crowns and three-unit fixed partial dentures (FPDs) cast with commercially pure titanium (CPTi) and Titanium-Aluminum-Vanadium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V). METHODS AND MATERIALS CPTi and Ti-6Al-4V alloy were used to cast twelve single crowns and twelve three-unit FPDs. A traveling microscop...

Numerical and Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Open-Die Hot Deep Drawing Process Parameters on the Formability of Commercially Pure Titanium

In the present study, the finite element analysis of the hot deep drawing process of commercially pure (CP) titanium has been performed without the blank holder in order to investigate the influence of temperature (T), die radius (Rd) and blank diameter (D) on the maximum punch force (Fp) and minimum thickness of the blank (t). Tensile tests were first conducted to extract...

Evaluation of hardness and wear resistance of nano-sized titanium-carbide-reinforced commercially cast aluminum alloy matrices

Production of aluminum matrix composites is widespread because these material provide enhanced mechanical properties compared to aluminum. One the most important parameters of metal matrix composite production is uniform distribution of reinforcing nanoparticles in matrices using the stir-casting method. Second is ensuring high wettability, which is determined by evaluating the properties of ma...

Fit and dimensional changes of cast CP titanium crowns fabricated using sintered molds.

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the clinical applicability of cast CP titanium crowns fabricated with sintered molds. To this end, the dimensional changes and accuracy of fit of cast CP titanium crowns, manufactured under varying mold firing temperatures, were examined. Molds were fired at 7 temperatures. The outer height of the crown and outer width of the occlusal surface decreas...
